There is no denying that in rentals there are more often then not, going to be absolutely ugly features, especially when you’re living in a place that may be not new or has some of it’s own history behind it. Rentals are tough like that and as a home owner myself, I know first hand how hard it is/ the importance of trying to keep everything as simple and as neutral as possible. That does not mean you cannot make some of it work though! Ok, let’s be real though, there is some ugly that nothing can be done about, but basic things like, not the most ideal carpet, or feature walls, can be made to be ok/ hidden or masked.
